STEM TEACHERS Master’s PROGRAM 2021 SUMMER INTERNSHIP

Today we want to share about 7 Korean teachers who just arrived in Montgomery last week. They are STEM teachers who majored in math and science education at four different Korea Universities and traveled many miles to assist Alabama teachers at the Lead Academy Charter School’s summer reading program from June 3rd to July 1st. They are working on pursuing an Alabamian teaching certificate so that they will be able to teach math and science in the near future. This great opportunity provides trainers and coaches for in-person training as well as in-class coaching to Korean student teachers while they teach/tutor Alabama public students.  Also, their internship includes practical workshops to prepare them for the PRAXIS content test and training sessions for the edTPA assessment at Troy University by Dr. Joseph Johnson.
We very much appreciate the A-KEEP supporters who became involved by hosting teachers. Korean student teachers can get a feel of that good ole “Alabama Southern hospitality” - by being graciously warm, sweet, and welcoming these visitors to their homes in Montgomery and Pike Road. We know this will encourage and motive them to eagerly return!

This is such great news because this demonstrates how Korean education is valued in the United States. It is amazing to see how partnership and collaboration between two countries developed a program called the Alabama STEM 1 + 1 Master’s Program.
