Head returns to head AKEEP's Gamification Project
Hello, my name is Micheal Head. I am a senior at Duke University majoring in Computer Science and returning to A-KEEP to put my skills to use in our ongoing Gamification Project. This is my second time working on the project. I worked as a summer intern last year for the start of the Gamification Project, where several interns worked to research and design a beginners’ Korean curriculum through the lens of gamification, while the software interns, including myself, built a foundation for all our upcoming resources to live.
The Gamification Project aims to consolidate A-KEEP’s online teaching and language-learning resources into one place, where students can learn Korean through guided lessons and teachers can create and design those lessons without ever needing to leave akeep.org. The software team and I left the project having created a foundation to start building and integrating these services, and I am quite happy to be able to return to something I worked on to help see it through. I will be carefully planning for future steps as I begin creating resources and tools for teachers to develop their own personalized curriculums.
It seems my work is cut out for me, but I and everyone at A-KEEP believe the last year has proven the need for authentic and accessible online learning resources, so I will be doing my best, and you should expect more news about our progress in the future!
