KSL: What's Happening? Part 2

In this installment of What is Happening with KSL? We have some news for you! In addition to our regular classes, A-KEEP has begun after school programs at Bear Exploration Center and Floyd Middle Magnet and will so begin Catch the K-Wave clubs at Brewbaker Tech High School and Pike Road High School. These programs will eventually lead to regular classes at each prospective school.

For now, HyeWon Na is enjoying her time at Floyd teaching students how to greet each other, count, and more. She was happy to see how students were interested in learning, especially after school. Every lesson, she has students taking notes, not wanting her to continue until they have written down the new words. The students were especially interested in learning about Korean culture.

Last week, HyeWon also started our after-school program at Bear where she will be teaching 4th and 5th graders. Students were enthusiastic about learning and HyeWon is looking forward to their progress. This is a great experience, not only for students, but for our teachers who gain experience with teaching in the States.

A-KEEP will also launch Catch the K-Wave clubs soon at Brewbaker and Pike Road Schools. Catch the K-Wave club is a program for high school students who are interested in Korean language and culture. Each week, students will actively engage in learning about Korean language, culture, and history through popular K-pop music, K-dramas, or K-games.  Most importantly, the students will learn about a critical-need foreign language related to U.S. national security, professional careers with a less-commonly taught language, international study of abroad opportunities, and much more.

Please continue to support A-KEEP's efforts. If you want to know how you or your student can begin their language learning journey, please contact us at koreanedu@akeep.org.

The fund for this program is subsidized by the Korean Ministry of Education and the Atlanta Korean Education Center. 동 사업비는 대한민국 교육부 및 애틀랜타 한국교육원의 지원으로 진행되고 있음.
