Air Force joins Catch the K-Wave club at Brewbaker

Major Early speaks to next generation of scholars

On Friday March 18th, Major Robert Early, AFCLC’s (Air Force Culture and Language Center) Language Division Deputy Chief, joined Brewbaker students during their Catch the K-Wave club time. Major Early is the recipient of the Air Force Commendation Medal, One Oak Leaf Cluster, National Defense Service Medal, and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. He received a degree in Mandarin Chinese from the University of Central Missouri and is considered superior in the language according to ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) standards.

Major Early spoke with students about his experience in language learning, the benefits, and the Air Forces Language Enabled Airman Program (LEAP). In this program scholars build language skills through online synchronous language courses and immersive training events. Brewbaker students were provided brochures and even a culture guide to South Korea. You can watch a short video here. They were interested in asking Major Early about his language learning journey and his experience of using his skills.
