KSL: What's Happening?

It is time for our KSL update! I am sure you have been wondering, what is AKEEP’s KSL program up to now? Well, we have the scoop for you! KSL is in full swing from 2nd grade to high school to the adult community.

As previously mentioned, our own Sonya Park began accredited classes at Pike Road High School this year. She has a total of 35 students alone in her Korean 1 class not to mention her Exploratory Korean students from Junior High. Ms. OkYoun is back for a second year with Pike Road Intermediate and is teaching over 400 students.

This year we have four new additions, our interns you previously met, Ms. JuYeon, HyeWon and Irene along with a new teacher Ms. JiYoung Lee. Our 2nd year at LEAD Academy began and Ms. Irene has enjoyed meeting her 5th 6th and 7th grade students. Students have a great interest in Korean and a strong motivation to learn. They are learning how to greet each other (안녕하세요) and how to write their name in Korean. HyeWon is excited to begin the afterschool program at Floyd Middle Magnet School where she will meet 6th to 8th grade students.  She is looking forward to meeting students ready to “Catch the K-Wave" and learn Korean language and culture. Her goal is to create a fun learning environment for students and to help A-KEEP and Floyd reach their goal of accredited classes in school.

We are so excited for the future of A-KEEP’s Language Program. We couldn’t do it without the community’s support. If you are interested in learning more, getting involved, or even donating to further our mission, contact us at join@akeep.org.

The fund for this program is subsidized by the Korean Ministry of Education and the Atlanta Korean Education Center. 동 사업비는 대한민국 교육부 및 애틀랜타 한국교육원의 지원으로 진행되고 있음.
