Meet Angela! Her Nickname is “the WARR ZONE”

Hello all! I am Angela Warr, and I recently joined the AKEEP/AIEEP team as the Programs Manager. I have almost 20 years of experience working for the State of Alabama and became acquainted with AKEEP during my tenure with the State Department of Education. By chance, I met Executive Director Meesoon Han in the hallway of the RSA Union Building while I was working with the Alabama Board of Physical Therapy. Upon my retirement from State service, I left my contact information with Ms. Han because she had expressed a need for volunteers. Several months later, she reached out to me in need of a Programs Manager to head up AIEEP’s SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor) Program, among other projects. The SEVIS Program will allow AIEEP to sponsor J-1 visas for foreign exchange teachers and interns. I was already bored with retired life and Ms. Han’s enthusiasm for AIEEP’s mission is contagious, so how could I say no? I am excited to begin this new chapter in my career and look forward to working with the wonderful AIEEP team to help achieve the mission of providing multilingual, multicultural education in Alabama.
