Enjoy our Play with an Inclusive Community
In our March 8th issue, we wrote about our upcoming play “The Beloved Daughter of the Shims.” To better serve the community, our production will now take place on July 23rd at the Davis Theater in Montgomery! We are still recruiting actors/actresses at any level who can be part of our cast community theater. We continue to recruit so that actors/actresses with or without disabilities can participate because the story offers an opportunity for the cast members “to make a village”. We believe this will be a great step towards making our community more inclusive for everyone.
The Alabama Council on Developmental Disabilities (ACDD) are partners that are willing to help A-KEEP successfully pursue a more inclusive cast for our play. We are inviting everyone to participate in this cultural experience. “The Beloved Daughter of the Sims,” a remake of the Korean folktale “Shim Cheung the Devoted Daughter,” will be directed by local Alabamian director Angela Dickson who will instill Alabamian cultural element into the play. The participants of this play will have the joy of experiencing and engaging in dance and musical components of this play, and we believe it is the best opportunity to connect with people of diverse backgrounds. We look forward to meeting you in our play!
