Screenwriter, director, and producer, Angela Dickson, returns to lead A-KEEP’s Challenge America production, The Beloved Daughter of the Sims’. The success of  A-KEEP’S inaugural community-engaged theater production, A Tale of Two Brothers, was largely due to Ms. Dickson’s skill as an actress, writer, and producer.  She is a former theater professor at Faulkner University, coordinator of the Faulkner Dinner Theatre, and currently the drama teacher at Alabama Christian Academy. Ms. Dickson’s knowledge and skill in interpreting Korean folklore into modern language while preserving Korean style and culturally appropriate mannerisms are exceptional.  Last year she collaborated with A-KEEP’s guest Korean artist, Ms. Bella Shim, who taught cast members traditional Korean dance and music using traditional Korean drums.  Ms. Dickson skillfully intertwined Korean folklore with Alabama so that our community could comprehend an unfamiliar story.

We look forward to Ms. Dickson’s interpretation of The Beloved Daughter of the Sims’ on June 11th where she will also redesign the background into an Alabama cultural setting. This will increase interest, viewership and encourage participation by community members.

Come and join the cast on Tuesday, March 9th for open auditions at the Armory Learning Center, Fitness Room at 6 pm!
