Make a Meaningful Impact

In an effort to alleviate poverty in Alabama, A-KEEP proudly became an AmeriCorps sponsor in 2018. We have seen the potential for educational and economic opportunity in Alabama and partnered with AmeriCorps to build capacity and strengthen our community.

What is AmeriCorps?

AmeriCorps is a network of national service programs, made up of three primary programs that each take a different approach to improving lives and fostering civic engagement. Members commit their time to address critical community needs like increasing academic achievement, mentoring youth, fighting poverty, sustaining national parks, preparing for disasters and more. - NationalService.Gov

What is AmeriCorps VISTA?

AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) members bring passion and perseverance where the need is greatest: to organizations that help eradicate poverty. AmeriCorps VISTA members serve as a catalyst for change, living and working alongside community members to meet our nation’s most pressing challenges and advance local solutions. - NationalService.Gov

AmeriCorps programs do more than move communities forward; they serve their members by creating jobs and providing pathways to opportunity as they enter the workforce. AmeriCorps places thousands of people into intensive service positions where they learn valuable skills, earn money for education, and develop a strong sense of civic responsibility.
